Since my Canon 70-200L/2.8 lens was stolen, I bought a

Canon a 28-300L/3.5-5.6. I've wanted this lens for about a year and I resisted buying it because of its price and weight. When I lost the 70-200, I understood the 28-300 wasn't a true replacement. This is because the 70-200 would be better optically and it would be lighter. Some of my all time favorite celebrity pics were taken with the 70-200. Well, I decided to take a chance and get the monsterlens.

I went to see the seals outside the aquarium in Riverhead. This was the first time I felt the monsterlens paid off. Meaning: it did something my other everyday/walkaround lens couldn't have done. There was no way to get close to the seals. My prime 300mm lens would have done a better job with this shot, I believe. It's hard to say because the seal was moving and I had to move the camera while I took this shot to get it.

However I would never carry a 300mm lens around for no specific reason, so there you go.
