I am genuinely bewildered by the clothes I want. Tell me one place where this would be appropriate? A country dance hoedown?

The end of this bit of fabric

The main challenge here was to use it all up so nothing would return to my fabric hoard. I just hate those small pieces. Too small to really make anything. They mock me bitterly. I wasn't really crazy about this fabric to begin with but it drapes so nicely! That is worth a whole lot. I'm not sure whether I like this and I don't know if it's a dress or a coat.

It was "silk suiting" for about 5 dollars a yard. Sometimes on the internet you really can't tell what the fabric will resemble when you get it on the net. When this fabric came it gave me a bourgeois eighties Chanel vibe so I really didn't know what I could do with it. The dress below, surprisingly, was made using a real 1950s pattern. It's for a muumuu!

I bought some really nice silk tartan

but sewing it can be a little challenging. The hard part is matching the pattern when sewing. The shoulder pads are on the dress form to approximate my measurements.
