The main challenge here was to use it all up so nothing would return to my fabric hoard. I just hate those small pieces. Too small to really make anything. They mock me bitterly. I wasn't really crazy about this fabric to begin with but it drapes so nicely! That is worth a whole lot. I'm not sure whether I like this and I don't know if it's a dress or a coat.

It was "silk suiting" for about 5 dollars a yard. Sometimes on the internet you really can't tell what the fabric will resemble when you get it on the net. When this fabric came it gave me a bourgeois eighties Chanel vibe so I really didn't know what I could do with it. The dress below, surprisingly, was made using a real 1950s pattern. It's for a muumuu!

Here's Wikipedia's definition of a muumuu: (basically the funniest garment name ever)

The muumuu or muʻumuʻu (IPA: /ˈmumu/) is a loose dress of Hawaiian origin[1] that hangs from the shoulder. Like the Aloha shirt, muumuu exports are often brilliantly colored with floral patterns of generic Polynesian motifs. Muumuu for local Hawaiian residents are more subdued in tone. Muumuu are not as widely worn at work as the aloha shirt, but may be worn as a uniform by women working in the hotel industry. Muumuu are also popular as maternity gowns and with obese people because they do not restrict the waist.

but sewing it can be a little challenging. The hard part is matching the pattern when sewing. The shoulder pads are on the dress form to approximate my measurements.

I have tried a lot of different approaches. On this one I keep using the same pattern over and over tweaking it along the way. This dress is a test. The fabric was described as "caramel". I'd call it sweet potato. Everytime I make this sort of dress with a collar I think I look like a factory worker in it.

The model in the picture is very interested in having a shirt inspired by a superhero named The Vindicator. Apparently this hero vindicates Canada somehow. The hero dresses in red and white in an outfit that looks like the Canandian flag. I only had black and white and this is just a test for a program that is new to me Patternmaster Tailor Made (it's for menswear). I just bought the red fabric and I'm trying to figure out how to put the maple leaf on the front. The fabric I have insn't stretchy so I need to find a closure that will look good and not interrupt the leaf motif on the front.

I like to paint the whole canvas and then I wait a week for the oil paint to dry. Once it does, I paint a whole new layer over the top. This process is repeated until the painting's done.

I love historical dress so I've been experimenting with this sort of garment. It's very challenging and a lot of fun. That maroon dress form has been such a help for fitting. You dial it to the right size. Before I'd have to put things on and off while I was sewing them. It never worked out.

Time Magazine downloaded three photos of Van Morrison. I had so much fun getting to be that close to Van Morrison photographing him and then I found that nobody was interested in running them. I photographed Monique Coleman from High School Musical, tons of photo sales. Van "The Man" Morrison nothing until a year later. I'm so happy because I really love the pictures. When I got her I tried to photograph her everyday because I thought she'd grow quickly and now I'm in the habit of taking a lot of pictures of her. She's very accustomed to it now. All the doggies seem to like being photographed. It took a while. I think being photographed is very unnatural for dogs. Something weaponlike is being shot at them and I doubt they appreciate the flash. Obviously, they now know that camera time is pretty fun.

I'm seriously considering making a sequel to the short Redman.
